The 20th Franciscan Health Golf Classic is a great occasion to support and celebrate Franciscan’s quality healthcare throughout South Suburban Chicago. Set at the world-renowned Olympia Fields Country Club golf course, proceeds from this year’s Classic will support the construction of a Medical Simulation Lab at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields.
The Medical Simulation Lab will provide a safe, controlled, interactive learning environment where nurses, physicians and students can hone their skills, allowing for objective evaluation and clinical growth. Techniques are mastered in real-life simulated environments, sometimes using high-tech human “manikins”, under the helpful guidance of Franciscan’s clinical educators and medical faculty. The recent pandemic underscored the need for well-prepared nurses, physicians and clinical professionals. Simulation training has become the standard for continuing medical education. It’s a powerful tool for acquiring and practicing clinical skills.
In January, Franciscan Health Olympia Fields announced its affiliation with RUSH, one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, to enhance our teaching hospitals’ postdoctoral training programs. Bringing this advanced medical simulation training technology to Olympia Fields further demonstrates our commitment to medical education that inspires innovative teaching, lifelong learning, and clinical excellence in our community’s healthcare providers.
